Off to Rome

G'day today we fly to Rome. Dubai has been fun. We went on a Dessert Safari, the driving was good but the side attractions ( take photo of camel in pen) were pretty lame. We went to the Dubai Mall last night, it's massive. We had to take 2 taxis as there was 5 of us and of coarse they dropped us off in different spots, and it then took 45mins to find each other again. Had dinner in a nice Lebanese restaurant overlooking the water fountain show and had the Burg Kalifa (the worlds tallest building ) as a backdrop. And no, I didn't go up it, too tall for me! I swear I could see it swaying.
We get woken each morning by the mosque call to prayer each morning at 530am, it's a nice alarm, it is broadcast out off large speakers all around the area we are staying at, which is called Old Dubai right beside the creek which is full off Douws full of cargo.
Weather has been Hot! 38 yesterday and 39 today, but the weather in Rome is only 20 today so looking forward to that.
We also went to a coffee museum and had traditional Turkish and Ethiopian Kaffee, talk about STRONG! Very nice but.

Burg Kalifa, too tall to get it all in one shot

The Mosque and tower with loud speakers which we hear the call to prayer, lasts about half hour.

Chilling in Dubai

After a fantastic smooth flight with Emirates we've checked into a groovy little arty farty hotel called Xva in Dubai, which Shaz had found on Tripadvisor. Touched down at 530am to a mild 31 degrees. We flew on a A380, wow what a plane. Double decker and I counted 400 people on our level, just incredible! This arvo were off to a desert cruise and dinner, but for now just a wander along the river and check out all the fishing boats, heaven! Will post some more pics later.
Oh, by the way, it's Rich typing these posts unless signed by Shaz, she doesn't like my grammar skills.

One more sleep!

Good evening all, it's the night before we leave. Mum and kids have been around and said their goodbyes, now I'm just trying to set up this blog. Nearly all packed and ready to go.
3 day stopover in Dubai, 6 days touring Italy, 10 days in Sicily and then 41 days walking the Camino de Santiago de compostela in Spain and then finally a week in Portugal.

So adios amigos, will post when we can
